Research takes more than a good question. It also takes time and resources to collect data, administer recruitment, keep track of participant follow-up and coordinate the work. The Institute of AI in Education (IAIED), Singapore is introducing the Agentic AI for Research Grant to support the costs of using agentic AI as a research assistant.
The grant supports approved expenses for agentic AI tools and usage that carry out defined research tasks. It offers a way for research teams to explore how AI assistance can fit into their research workflows, with researchers responsible for the work and its decisions.
What can the grant support?
Proposed support may include AI tool subscriptions, API usage and related execution costs for research activities such as:
- Data collection: carrying out and coordinating defined collection tasks within the research workflow.
- Participant recruitment administration: organising recruitment activities and maintaining the information needed to coordinate participation.
- Participant follow-up: administering reminders and follow-up communications as part of the research process.
- Research coordination: helping organise tasks, records and outputs across the project.
Applicants should explain what the agentic AI will do, which tools are needed, the estimated costs and how the research team will oversee and evaluate the work. The scope and eligible expenditure are agreed individually in the written award.
Recipient example: the Archie Math research project
The Archie Math research project is a recipient of the Agentic AI for Research Grant. It uses agentic AI as a research assistant to support the administration of participant recruitment and follow-up.
Archie Math has also received IAIED’s AIEDx Grant for its development. These are separate grants supporting different aspects of the project. Read the Archie Math grant acknowledgements for both.
How to start an application enquiry
Visit the Agentic AI for Research Grant page for the application outline, terms and recipient responsibilities. Send a short, non-confidential project summary to aiedx@mylearnomics.com, using Agentic AI for Research Grant enquiry — [project title] as the subject.
Include your name and affiliation, research objectives, the tasks proposed for agentic AI, the support requested, budget, timeline, milestones and expected outputs. Disclose other funding relevant to the same work. Confirm formal requirements and award conditions with IAIED before relying on support.
Availability, eligibility, funding limits, any deadline and the conditions of each award are confirmed individually. This announcement does not establish a fixed funding round or guarantee an award.
Acknowledge the grant in supported outputs
As with AIEDx, recipients must acknowledge the relevant grant and IAIED in all outputs arising from the supported work, including presentations, posters, manuscripts, preprints, journal and conference publications, reports, demonstrations and project websites.
This work was supported by the Agentic AI for Research Grant from the Institute of AI in Education (IAIED), Singapore (UEN 53487769M).
Use the wording prescribed in your award where provided, include any supplied award reference, and follow the written agreement for approved costs, reporting and other conditions. Research teams remain responsible for participant communications, research decisions and the appropriate handling of research data.
